I see a lot of cheap cars on craigs list some of them are pretty new like 2001 2003 model years. anyway I was wondering if any one had experience with buying cars off of craigs list (for a reasonably cheap price $4000 max) and how did they work out. my friend buys alot of stuff off of there but none of them are cars or trucks just car accessories.

The cars on craigslist are no more, or no less reliable than used cars from any other source. The problem is that unless you buy from a local seller, you are really taking a chance if you can’t see the car, can’t drive it, and can’t inspect it.

You also must watch for scammers, espcially on those cars with prices too low to believe. The scammers take your money, and you never get your car. Here’s more about it:
