I saw that the oil is leaking from the oil cap and spilling onto the engine, causing smoke to billow out from under the hood. I went to Advanced Auto parts and got a new one, thinking that would solve my problem. Well, it didn’t. I know for sure both caps were quite tight, but nothing is working. A mechanic said it could either be that I need a factory oil cap (because the cap that came with the car when I bought it and the one I bought at Advanced are both after-market) or it has a cracked piston. Does anyone else know what to do? Has anyone else had this problem before? Is this common? Thanks in advance for your help!

Try checking your emission controls. Stay away from advanced auto parts. Just use Volvo parts and only service your Volvo at a volvo dealer.
