Classic Car Values – With the classic car auctions just closed in Scottsdale, the big companies were saying sales were down, but the total for car auctions this week brought in $130.7 million! That ain’t hay.

The week’s top seller was from Gooding, a 1960 Ferrari 250 GT that went for $4.95 million and they report six other cars that went for over a million.

Barret-Jackson, the Scottsdale based car auctioneer, who usually attracts the big spenders, the Hollywood stars and exotic collector’s cars reported $63 million in sales.

RM Auctions, a Canadian company had a sale collapse for a 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport, the bid $4.9 million (about a million times more than it’s original cost of The “Grand Sport” model designed by Zora Arkus-Duntov, (the father of the Corvette) and formerly owned by Roger Penske.

Which brings us back to the whole point of this article, Chevrolet’s 2009 Covette is in the sixth generation of Corvette and that car doesn’t seem to be going away soon. The Corvette has won awards all through its history dating back to the first one in 1953.
