ok i am debating on getting some wheels for my sti it comes on 225/45/17 i am thinking about putting lighter 255/30/19 wheels on it the stock wheels are 20-22 pounds but the 19′s are 18-19 punds so i wondering with the lower side wall and all what better for handling i her smaller light is better for acc and but larger wheels are best for high speed and handling i can also make the tires 245/30/19 etc so im just wondering what are the pros and cons of both even thro i can fet 14 pound 17′s also i just want to know the pro and cons of light big wheel or light small wheels and side wall width etc. I see the sports cars get bigger wheels a lot so i just feel theres a reason a lambo porsche corvette etc come on 18-20 inchers when trhey can always go smaller and lighter plus if ur pushing 500 hp+ its good to have bigger wheels right?

17-18 inch wheels are best for handling. 19 inch is good for handling on some cars depending on the car. For the STI or Evo, 17 inch is best. That is why stock wheels are 17 inch.

Larger than that makes handling worse.
Smaller wheels(12-16)=quicker acceleration
Middle Size(17-18)=Best handling and best mix of acceleration and speed.
Larger wheels(19-30)=higher top speed.

Many race cars and high end sports cars use 17-19 inch.

I would go with 18 inch wheels if you like the looks of larger wheels.
